St Kitts and Nevis Patriots v Barbados Tridents – Match Preview

The Patriots and Tridents have shared a rather even record across their last 11 meetings. St Kitts have won six and the Tridents five.

St Kitts are currently in last position in the six-team standings. The Tridents are fifth.

Where: Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad

When: Tuesday, 25 August 2020

Start Time: 14:00 GMT (19:30 IST)

Pitch conditions: The highest team total in Port of Spain during the CPL 2019 was 191/4 by the Trinbago Knight Riders. The Queen’s Park Oval is expected to bring bigger scores than the Brian Lara Stadium did. Two specialist spinners in an XI is still wise. The seamers might find better value here, too.

Weather conditions: The weather won’t be much different what was experienced in Tarouba. Temperatures and humidity levels will be characteristically high of the Caribbean, while scattered thundershowers are forecast. Hopefully, we’ll get in a full fixture.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots v Barbados Tridents – Latest Odds

Parimatch have St Kitts priced as underdogs at 2.07 for this match, despite their superior head-to-head record against the Tridents over their last 10 meetings.

The Tridents are the reigning champions, though, and are offered at 1.70.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots v Barbados Tridents – Team News

Both teams go into this match on the back of defeats. Changes to the XIs are expected.

Australian duo Chris Lynn and Ben Dunk need to deliver more with the bat. A middle order that can centre around the workmanlike batting of Denesh Ramdin requires greater support.

It’s still worth playing spinner Jon-Russ Jaggesar ahead of fast bowler Alzarri Joseph – a decision made last week that could yield good results going forward.

For the Tridents, Corey Anderson’s place is in jeopardy. He has scored just four runs in three innings – and is obviously struggling with the slow conditions he expected.

He might be replaced by a local batsman, as Barbados look to start afresh at a new venue. Johnson Charles and Shai Hope, meanwhile, are a solid combination at the top of the order.

Barbados deployed four bowlers in their last match, which resulted in defeat to the Trinbago Knight Riders. They could be pickier about who bowls alongside Mitchell Santer and Rashid Khan this time.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots v Barbados Tridents – Betting Tips and Prediction

Allow our CPL betting tips to put you in the best position for this match. You’ve seen the outright odds, now let’s take a look at some individual predictions.

Back Barbados to Have the Top Batsman

St Kitts arguably have the bigger names in their batting order, but the Tridents are gradually getting among these.

Johnson Charles is a particularly clean hitter, while we’ve been impressed by Jonathan Carter’s inventive shot selection.

LeoVegas have Barbados priced at 1.80 to have the top run-scorer in this match. St Kitts are offered at 2.00.

Pick Dunk To Star in Port of Spain

Ben Dunk is an experienced campaigner around the world. He has played in the Big Bash League, Indian Premier League, Pakistan Super League, Mzansi Super League, Caribbean Premier League and more.

He has put together a few good starts in the CPL 2020 so far – and is offered at 4.30 by Bodog India to be the top St Kitts batsman overall.

Bet on the First Century of the CPL 2020

The CPL 2020 is still waiting for its first century from a batsman. We’ve seen a few big half-tons, but nobody has gone all the way to three figures yet.

Conditions are expected to be friendlier to the batsmen than they were in Tarouba. You can bet on someone to ton up in this match at 8.00 with Unibet.

They also have a half-century to be scored at 1.18.

We’ve understandably gone quite heavy on the batting markets this time. Be sure to reference our best bets round-up to be well placed for this match.
