We will bring you news of any changes, as well as an updated schedule of fixtures as soon as plans are finalised.

India at the T20 World Cup

India won the first-ever T20 World Cup in 2007. A five-run win over bitter rivals Pakistan in Johannesburg remains the high point for the national team on the international Twenty20 stage.

India cricket supporters

The next three editions between 2009 and 2012 ended in bitter disappointment. India failed to make it out of the main group phrase (then known as Super 8s), winning eight of a combined 15 matches in the three tournaments combined.

Virat Kohli captained his side to a second-place finish in 2014, being crowned Player of the Series despite Sri Lanka coming out on top in the final.

India suffered a semi-final defeat on home soil in 2016 when losing to eventual champions West Indies, who went on to claim their second title by beating England at Eden Gardens.

The Twenty20 World Cup returns to India in 2022

After a five-year absence, there is set to be two T20 World Cups in 12 months.

India will host the competition again in 2022 following Australia being hosts in 2021.

As the IPL continues to thrive, fans will hope that the national team can convert domestic league success into another international title in the upcoming competitions.

Betting sites certainly rate India as one of the leading contenders for the 2020 T20 World Cup, now being held in 2021. It’s likely that a strong showing in Australia will see Kolhi’s side installed as favourites when they have home advantage in 2022.
