Melbourne Stars v Melbourne Renegades – Betting Tips and Prediction
Melbourne Renegades have not enjoyed much success in this fixture over the years and that looks set to continue here.
The Stars bounced back to winning ways in their last game and will be keen to build more momentum, starting by piling more misery on their rivals.
The fact the Stars are also back at the MCG is a huge plus for them as they look to push back towards the top of the BBL table.
That said, there isn’t much value in backing the Stars for the outright win. It could pay to check out other betting markets instead.
Back Zampa For More Wickets
Adam Zampa continues to look a real threat this tournament and relished the return to the MCG.
His five-for against Adelaide catapulted him into the top five in the wicket-taker list this season with 20 in 12 matches.
He is the favourite to be the Stars’ top bowler once more at 3.0 with bet365. Given how well he did at this ground in the last match and how the slow-looking surface should play to his strengths again, this looks a really good pick.
Stoinis to Beat Fletcher to 10 Runs
Marcus Stoinis has looked to be heading towards top gear in recent showings without finding a big score.
He is already up there with the top run-scorers of the tournament despite a slow start and a few inconsistent outings.
Backing him to get to 10 runs before opening partner Andre Fletcher looks a good bet.
Fletcher did smash 89 here in the last match but it is hard to oppose Stoinis knowing what he is capable of at the top of the order. He fell for just 13 in the last game but there was plenty to like about the 47 and 34 in the preceding contests.
He can be backed at 1.8 with 22Bet to beat Fletcher to double figures.
Harper to Get Under 29.5 Player Performance Points
Wicketkeeper-batsman Sam Harper has struggled with the bat this BBL despite his place near the top of the Renegades’ order.
The 31 he managed against the Strikers three games ago was the only time he has hit more than 18 in the last seven matches.
With him struggling for form and with the Stars out to dominate, it could be another tough game for the 24-year-old.
Due to the fact he’ll be donning the gloves, it means his points will either come from runs or stumpings. He gets one point for every run and 25 per stumping.
Unless he gets a stumping, of which he has managed two in his last 10 games, it looks unlikely he’ll be able to get above 29.5 points in this one.
Backing him to get under that total is available at 1.83 with bet365.
