Leicestershire Foxes v Durham – Match Preview

Leicestershire did manage to get their innings in against Lancashire before more poor weather hit. They will be hoping to get off the mark against a winless Durham side.

There have been positives to take in defeat for Durham and they could have benefitted from their extra early-season action.

Where: Headingley, Leeds

When: Monday, August 2020

Start Time: 16: 35 IST (12:05 GMT)

Pitch conditions: The pitch at Headingley produced some high scores in last season’s competition. It looks like chasing will be the favoured approach. The average score in the 2019 Vitality Blast was around the 170 mark.

Weather conditions: Slight rain is forecast but the overall picture looks much drier than in previous days. There will be some cloud cover and temperatures holding around the mid-teens.

Leicestershire Foxes v Durham – Team News

Leicestershire’s Lewis Hill returned from injury to feature against Lancashire. He should be available again as long as he came through that unscathed.

Gareth Delany made his debut in the previous outing and will look to improve after an early dismissal at the top of the order. Arron Lilley was also in the previous squad alongside seamer Dieter Klein.

For Durham, they have named the same squad that featured against Notts.

David Bedingham and Sean Dickson have already made their white-ball debuts for the county and will be keen to show what they can do here.

England pace ace Mark Wood is also included and could come back into the fold after missing the Notts clash.

Leicestershire Foxes v Durham – Betting Tips and Prediction

Durham’s top order did well against Notts but they then failed to defend their total well enough in the face of Joe Clarke’s stunning century.

That said, there were enough positives to take from that clash to suggest they could come out on top once.

However, given the close nature of this battle, it could be worth looking at other markets too.

Carse to Continue Impressive Start

Alex Lees may have taken the headline with successive half-centuries in the first two matches but it could be worth looking to Brydon Carse in the top batsman market for this.

The Durham man hit 38 in the opener against Lancashire which saw him shifted up the order against Notts. He then hit an unbeaten 32 in that clash.

Another stint higher could mean he offers value to be Durham’s highest run-scorer. He is priced at 6.5 with bet365 to bag that honour.

Ackermann to Star for the Foxes

Colin Ackermann impressed for the Foxes with both bat and ball last season. He took 12 wickets in 13 matches while also smashing 342 runs.

Another all-round contribution from the skipper could put him in the frame for the man of the match award. It’s a long shot but if he can follow up what he did in 2019 then it could be worth a bet at 9.0 offered by bet365.

Potts to be Durham’s Top Bowler

Matthew Potts had a fine 2019 Vitality Blast season and has already been among the wickets in 2020.

The right-arm medium pacer was Durham’s top wicket-taker last season with 17 in 12 matches.

He has already got a couple to his name this campaign and is a good bet to star with the ball here. He can be backed at 5.0 with bet365 to be his team’s top bowler.
