The Lahore Qalandars take on the Quetta Gladiators at the Gadaffi Stadium on Tuesday. The Gladiators are the favourites to win this match, but need to avoid a potential hiccup against a challenging Qalandars team.
The Lahore franchise have finished at the bottom of the log in all the PSLs so far and aren’t doing any better in this one. The Quetta franchise are the reigning champions.
Let’s take a look at some of the latest cricket predictions, news about the teams and more ahead of this intriguing Pakistan Super League match-up.
Lahore Qalandars vs Quetta Gladiators – Match Preview
Where: Gadaffi Stadium, Lahore
When: Tuesday, 3 March 2020
Pitch conditions: Lahore has not been used in the 2020 PSL since 23 February, when a high-scoring affair resulted in a tight win for Islamabad United over the Qalandars. Toss-winning captains generally opt to bowl first at this venue. This theme is prevalent across the tournament in general.
Weather conditions: There is a slight chance of rain forecast for Lahore on Tuesday, but certainly not as much as what was experienced in Rawalpindi recently. A full fixture is expected amid a high of 26 degrees Celsius.
Start Time: 19:00 (IST), 14:00 (GMT)
Lahore Qalandars vs Quetta Gladiators – Latest Odds
Lahore and Quetta are priced at 2.00 and 1.80, respectively, in the latest PSL odds by bet365 to win this fixture. There are outright markets, too, with the defending champions Gladiators offered at 4.50 to win the 2020 PSL. For longer odds, Lahore are at 11.00 for an unlikely overall tournament win.
Lahore Qalandars vs Quetta Gladiators – Team News
The Qalandars have relied a lot on Mohammad Hafeez for meaningful contributions with the bat, but they need a lot more from Australian recruit Chris Lynn, who hasn’t delivered on cue as largely expected. Elsewhere in the batting order, they have Fakhar Zaman and Sohail Akhtar doing their bit for the local contingent. It’s not secret, though, that Lahore need bigger totals to keep in contention for a maiden title. It’s all well and good having David Wiese and Shaheen Afridi among the wickets, but the bowlers need bigger totals to defend.
The Gladiators can continue to ride on the success of Jason Roy and Shane Watson at the top of the order, before captain Sarfaraz Ahmed leads the middle order and all-rounder Ben Cutting provides the finishing through the closing overs. Mohammad Hasnain has been their standout performer with the ball. The 19-year-old fast bowler has already taken nine wickets in five 2020 PSL matches. Cutting, Tymal Mills and Sohail Khan have been solid in support.

Lahore Qalandars vs Quetta Gladiators – Betting Tips and Prediction
The Qalandars and Quetta have taken it in turns to beat each other across their last four matches in the PSL, so there isn’t much historical consistency to go on when considering the overall cricket predictions for this match. There are some attractive batting and bowling PSL markets, though, as the defending champions look to dominate the perennial wooden-spooners.
David Wiese to star with bat and ball
The South African all-rounder was soon lost to international cricket just as his Proteas career started, but has since become a hot asset on the global cricket calendar in the United Kingdom, Pakistan Super League and beyond. Able to perform with bat and ball, he has already shown his prowess with both for Lahore this PSL season. He is priced at 13.00 by bet365 to be the team’s best batsman in this match – and 6.00 to be their top bowler. If he gets both right, he might well oblige the Player of the Match market at 17.00.
Battle of the batsmen
Lynn, Watson and Roy are each offered at 9.00 to take the Player of the Match accolade, if Wiese doesn’t beat them to it. One could fancy one of them to corner this market, as Lynn looks to find form, Watson chases momentum and Roy attempts to deliver on cue. Watson is probably the favourite here, on the back of a whirlwind 80 against the Multan Sultans. He can contribute with the ball, if required, as well.
Best Bet: Wiese to be top bowler for Lahore with bet365 at 6.00
