Lahore Qalandars vs Islamabad United Preview – Betting Tips, Latest Odds, Team News and Predictions – 23/2/2020

The Lahore Qalandars are looking to recover from defeat to the Multan Sultans, while Islamabad United will play a second match in as many days during a particularly busy period for the two-time Pakistan Super League champions.

Our PSL preview features some free cricket betting tips, the latest tournament odds and news from the teams as they look to compose the best XIs for this important fixture. A win over the former champions could really boost the campaign of a Lahore outfit that has finished in last place in all four previous PSLs.

Lahore Qalandars vs Islamabad United – Match Preview

Where: Gadaffi Stadium, Lahore

When: Sunday, 23 February 2020

Pitch conditions: This will be the third time the Gadaffi Stadium has been used for the 2020 PSL. The first two first-innings scores were 138 and 164. The toss-winning captain chose to field first on both occasions. Sunday’s match, like the first two, will be floodlit.

Weather conditions: There’s a small chance of rain predicted for Sunday. But it wouldn’t be enough to genuinely limit play amid otherwise hot, dry conditions.

Start Time: 19:30 (IST), 14:00 (GMT)

Lahore Qalandars vs Islamabad United – Latest Odds

Unibet have the Lahore Qalandars priced at 1.73 and Islamabad United at 2.10 to win this match. They have some interesting markets around the highest total in the first over and the most runs scored off the first ball of the innings, too. For instance, you can bet on Lahore to score more runs off their first over than Islamabad.

Lahore Qalandars vs Islamabad United – Team News

The Lahore Qalandars fielded Australian duo Chris Lynn and Ben Dunk and South African pair David Wiese and Dane Vilas as their four overseas player in defeat to the Multan Sultans. They also have West Indian batsman Lendl Simmons, Sri Lanka spinner Seekkuge Prasanna and England all-rounder Samit Patel available if required.

The Qalandars’ bowling is spearheaded by Haris Rauf, who is still living the dream after debuting for the Melbourne Stars in Australia’s Big Bash League and then the Pakistan national team recently. He didn’t take the new ball against the Sultans, but likely will this time.

Islamabad United’s bowling attack against the Sultans on Saturday was entirely Pakistani, as their four overseas berths were dedicated entirely to the batting ranks. Even then, English opener Phil Salt missed out. United will likely continue to go with this approach until South African fast bowler Dale Steyn arrives after the Proteas’ limited-overs series against Australia.

Lahore Qalandars vs Islamabad United – Betting Tips and Prediction

This one might come down to who wants it more – a Qalandars unit seeking their first win of the 2020 PSL or a United outfit eager to bully the tournament’s historic bottomfeeders and show just why they are favourites in PSL betting to win a third title.

Fakhar Zaman to score a half-century

While all eyes will be on the big-hitting ability of ‘Lynnsanity’, Zaman could slip under the radar in a supporting role and graduate to a half-century. The Lahore Qalandars opener is priced at 4.00 to score a half-century, which are longer odds than Lynn (2.88) and Dawid Malan (3.75) to do the same. Alternatively, you can bet on Colin Munro and Luke Ronchi to not score half-tons at 1.23 each. You’ll be refunded if any of these players don’t make it to the crease.

Amad Butt to be top bowler for Islamabad United

Right-arm fast bowler Amad Butt impressed with a four-wicket haul against the Sultans 24 hours prior to this match. He is backed to continue this momentum and is priced at 4.50 to be the top bowler for the visiting team. Akif Javed in the same market, and also offered at 4.50, is a good alternative punt. For longer odds, you might want to consider wrist-spinner Colin Ingram at 8.00 to be Islamabad’s top bowler.

Best Bet: Fakhar Zaman to score a half-century at 4.00 with Unitbet
