Jamaica Tallawahs v Guyana Amazon Warriors – Match Preview

The teams met earlier in the CPL 2020, when Guyana defended a mere 118 to beat Jamaica by 14 runs. That was at a different venue, though. The tournament has since moved to Port of Spain.

Guyana have won nine of their last 13 CPL matches against Jamaica, who have collected just four wins.

Where: Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad

When: Tuesday, 25 August 2020

Start Time: 21:30 GMT (03:00 IST, next day)

Pitch conditions: The Brian Lara Stadium pitch was getting tired and slow. The Queen’s Park Oval strip pledges a bit more value for shots and pace for the seamers, before it too starts to get sluggish. For the first few matches at least, batting first seems the way to go.

Weather conditions: Much like in Tarouba, Port of Spain will have high temperatures and humidity levels. Some rain is predicted for Tuesday, but probably not enough to shorten the fixture, or interrupt it at all.

Jamaica Tallawahs v Guyana Amazon Warriors – Latest Odds

Jamaica Tallawahs v Guyana Amazon Warriors – Team News

The Tallawahs are gradually starting to see their beloved Andre Russell come to the party. The star all-rounder hit a brisk half-century against the Warriors a few days ago.

He has Chadwick Walton, Carlos Brathwaite and Glenn Phillips there for support, too, of course. Phillips at the top of the order is especially important.

Fast bowler Fidel Edwards could have a big impact in Port of Spain. He should offer a bit more pace and nip off the seam.

Spinner Sandeep Lamichhane can be the complement to this, slowing things down with turn and some extra bounce.

Guyana have the usual middle-order trio of Sherfane Rutherford, Nicholas Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer to all but bank on. Hetmyer has failed twice after stringing together back-to-back half-centuries.

Pooran fired nicely in the Warriors’ last match – and looks good for more this time. Here’s anticipating big efforts from Brandon King and Ross Taylor, as well.

Chris Green and Imran Tahir are probably the most formidable spin combination in the CPL this season. They’ve even opened the bowling together. That’s not likely this time, though.

Green will probably partner seamer Naveen-ul-Haq with the new ball again.

Jamaica Tallawahs v Guyana Amazon Warriors – Betting Tips and Prediction

If you are wanting some deeper insight than the outright winner markets for this match, have a look at these CPL betting tips from our experts.

Bet on 20+ Runs to Be Hit Off One Over

We’ve seen some pretty expensive overs during the CPL 2020 so far. With some really big-hitters around for this match, we’ll probably see a 20-plus over here.

This is most likely during the opening powerplay, when the field is up and there is a spinner bowling.

Unibet have a 20+ over priced at 1.85 for this match.

Back Jamaica to Have the Highest Powerplay Score

With Glenn Phillips in fine form and capitalising on his experience of the conditions last season, Jamaica are better placed than the opposition to score more in the opening six-over powerplay.

If they are setting a total, this is more likely amid a carefree approach. If they are chasing a total, they might employ a bit more caution in order to keep wickets in hand for the end.

Betway have the Tallawahs offered at 1.90 to have a higher opening powerplay score than Guyana.

Pick Andre Russell for Player of the Match

Russell is gearing up nicely for his stint with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League.

Able to switch it on with bat or ball, he’s primed for a big performance against a team he did well against last week.

You choose Russell to be player of the match at 6.00 with bet365.
