India v England 2nd ODI – Match Preview

India landed the win in the first match after an excellent start with the bat was backed up with some big-hitting at the back end of the innings.

Their bowlers had to be patient but eventually bowled out the visitors to go 1-0 ahead in this three-match series.

England continue to endure a frustrating time in India and may be tempted to freshen up their bowling attack.

India v England 2nd ODI – Team News

  • Shreyas Iyer – The Delhi Capitals Captain will miss this game and the rest of the series after picking up a shoulder injury. It is an injury that could also see him miss the start of the IPL.
  • Shikhar Dhawan – The batsman fell just two runs shy of a century in the first game after some eye-catching hitting at the top of the order. He is likely to keep his place alongside Rohit Sharma after that.
  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar – India’s right-arm medium pacer continued his impressive form when taking two more wickets in the 1st ODI.
  • KL Rahul – The wicket-keeper batsman bounced back to form with a 62 batting at number five. He had been struggling for form in the T20I series but that knock will have boosted his confidence.
  • Jonny Bairstow – The England opener smashed a superb 66-ball 94 as his side made a solid start to their chase in the previous game. He will be looking for more runs here.
  • Sam Billings – The powerful middle-order batsman hurt his shoulder fielding in the first match but was still able to bat after treatment. England will be hoping he stays fit for this important 2nd ODI.
  • Jofra Archer – The England pace bowler has returned home and won’t feature in any of the matches this series. He was a big miss for the visitors last time out.

India v England 2nd ODI – Betting Tips and Predictions

It is hard to look past anything other than an India win here.

Virat Kohli’s side has momentum with them and the bonus of KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan being back among the runs.

England, meanwhile, suffered as Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler failed to build on the lightning-quick start of Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy.

Inconsistency from the middle-order and a weakened bowling attack could make life difficult once more.

Looking at other markets is a good way of finding value.

Back Bhuvneshwar to Get Wickets Again

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been in excellent form of late. He took wickets in the T20I series and quickly added some more in the 1st ODI.

His ability to find movement where others can’t makes him a great bet to be India’s top bowler in this clash.

He didn’t have as much joy as Thakur or Krishna in the first game but the dismissal of Moeen was one of the best in the match.

His price of 4.5 with bet365 looks appealing.

Sam Curran a Value Selection

While Curran has struggled at times this tour, now could be a good time to side with him in the top England bowler market.

England’s attack has been weakened by the loss of Jofra Archer and everyone except Mark Wood and Ben Stokes struggled in the first game.

However, Curran did bowl with a good economy and his varied and pace-off approach could suit conditions in Pune.

The left-arm of Reece Topley would be interesting but, as it stands, Curran is most likely to get the nod again.

His price of 6.5 with bet365 to be England’s top bowler is far too big.

Kohli for Player of the Match

The India skipper is looking in good form at present and can get more runs in this one.

While he is a short-priced favourite to be his team’s top batsman, he is an appealing price to be named player of the match.

Should he top score during an India victory then there is a big chance the batting icon will take this award.

He is priced at 8.0 with 22Bet, which is a longshot bet but one that could certainly happen.
