England v New Zealand 2nd Test – Team News

  • Jack LeachThe ECB have suspended Ollie Robinson, who will need replacing. Leach seems a good fit, as the hosts lacked a frontline spinner in the series opener.
  • Zak Crawley – It’ll be interesting to see if Crawley will be retained for the second match. He failed in both innings at Lord’s – and didn’t look the part of a number three Test match batsman.
  • James Bracey – The England wicketkeeper-batsman had a relatively quiet debut at Lord’s. He will want to improve on his duck and three catches.
  • Devon Conway – The debutant struck a double-century at Lord’s. Not many will expect another in his second match, but the pressure is on to do well regardless.
  • Trent Boult – A relaxation in quarantine regulations could see Boult come into the New Zealand XI, at the expense of Mitchell Santner or Colin de Grandhomme.
  • Tom Latham – He will captain the New Zealand XI in the absence of Kane Williamson, who has been sidelined by injury.

England v New Zealand 2nd Test – Betting Tips and Predictions

We have more cricket betting tips. These match predictions are free and lined with attractive odds. They could help you make stronger decisions.

Bet on Broad to Take Five or More Wickets

Stuart Broad only took one wicket in the series opener. He has claimed 35 wickets in eight Test matches at Edgbaston, though.

He will likely need to put in more overs in the absence of Ollie Robinson, too, which will afford him more opportunity to get breakthroughs.

Broad, in combination with James Anderson, is always a big threat. Bet on Broad to take five or more wickets in the match, not just an innings, at 2.0 with bet365.

Select Sibley to Be England’s Top First-Innings Batsman

If you are looking for a really good value bet, then picking Dominic Sibley to be England’s top batsman in the first innings at 5.5 with 22Bet is for you.

He got out early first up at Lord’s, but put in a steely and unbeaten 60 in the second innings. That practice against Tim Southee and company should really serve him well this time.

Sibley remains England’s opener of choice alongside Rory Burns, as they continue to formulate their plans and combinations ahead of the Ashes series later this year.

Make Wagner New Zealand’s Top First-Innings Bowler

Neil Wagner was deployed second- or third-change in London and put in a few fiery spells. These brought him three wickets in total and perhaps set him up for more in Birmingham.

Wagner brings plenty of value to the New Zealand bowling attack as a left-arm option. With Trent Boult possibly back, this could empower him even more.

Bet on Wagner to be the top New Zealand bowler in the first innings at 3.74 with Megapari. This popular Indian cricket betting site has plenty of other options to bet on, too.
