While Adelaide’s big-hitting wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey hasn’t been able to consistently transfer his BBL form to the international stage, he can still shine back in familiar surroundings.
Carey smashed 391 runs in just 11 matches for the Strikers in BBL 09 and can build on that this time around.
He will miss the first match of the tournament due to Australia A duty, but that should have him ready to hit the ground running for the second clash.
Carey has shown signs of being in decent touch over the last few months, most notably his ODI century against England in the summer and his solid 38 against India in the final ODI just last week.
He played six fewer Big Bash League matches than last year’s top two batsmen, Marcus Stoinis and Alex Hales. However, he would surely have got a lot closer to them with the extra matches. That makes him a great each-way selection this year.
Adelaide look to have a strong, balanced side for this year’s competition and that will only help his chances of a top-four finish in the run-scorer charts. There is also a chance he could be shifted back up to open.
He can be backed each-way at 21.0 with LeoVegas. They are paying 1/4 of the odds for the top three batsmen.
Betway, meanwhile, have Carey available at 15.0 but are paying 1/3 of the odds for four places. It means your payout for a place would be slightly less but you have one more place chance.

D'Arcy Short is the joint-favourite to be the top batsman in BBL 10 with bet365. He is joined at the top of the odds table by last season's winner Marcus Stoinis.

Sydney’s Josh Philippe came third in the batsmen rankings last year after smashing an impressive 487 runs in 16 matches.
He looks an interesting bet to go two places better this time around.
The talented 23-year-old wasted no time when he was handed an opportunity to open for RCB in the IPL and that will set him up perfectly for this challenge.
If the Sixers can have another strong tournament it will also improve his chances of bagging the top batsman prize.
He can be backed at 15.0 with bet365, which looks great value with last year’s winner Marcus Stoinis carrying a side strain and struggling for form.
Colin Munro may have missed out on a recent contract with New Zealand, but he remains a sought-after T20 cricketer.
He is fifth in the ICC's T20I rankings and boasts a strike-rate of 156.44.
The left-hander played a big role in helping Trinbago Knight Riders to glory in the Caribbean Premier League back in September and the Scorchers are certainly live outsiders for BBL 10 success.
Opener Munro can be backed at 21.0 with LeoVegas and could also be another solid each-way play. LeoVegas are paying 1/4 of the odds for three places.
