SuperSport Park profile

Originally called Centurion Park before the naming rights of the title sponsor were prioritised, SuperSport Park is based in Centurion, South Africa.

It is among the newer cricket stadiums in the country – and is in relatively close proximity to the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

Some international captains have described the venues as “one of the grounds with the best players’ facilities in the world”.

While other grounds have met demand with several blocks of formal seating, part of SuperSport Park’s charm is the grass embankments lined across the ground.

What to look for when betting on matches at SuperSport Park

Not unlike the Wanderers, the landlocked proximity of SuperSport Park has been conducive to good conditions for batting. However, it’s not a proverbial batsmen’s paradise, as bowlers with genuine pace can succeed here.

Teams will be more likely to field a specialist spinner here than in Johannesburg, but SuperSport Park is very much still a ‘bat first’ pitch. The venue has world-class drainage facilities, which are handy during seasonal rains.

Betting on the Tshwane Spartans in the Mzansi Super League is best done when they play their home matches at SuperSport Park. This, too, is the home ground of AB de Villiers, who hails from Pretoria.
