Wellington Firebirds v Canterbury Kings – Betting Tips and Prediction
Wellington are rightly the favourites to retain their title following an impressive campaign.
Canterbury are sure to put up a fight on the back of some fine victories, but it is the defending champions that should prove too strong when it counts.
However, their short price is not that appealing from a betting perspective, so looking at other markets is the best way of finding other value selection.
Allen to Outshine Bowes
Backing young Wellington opener Finn Allen to score more runs than his Kings counterpart Chad Bowes looks a great bet in the final.
No one has more runs this tournament than 21-year-old Allen and he comes here on the back of 66 against the Stags and 73 against the Aces.
Bowes, meanwhile, has only gone beyond 40 runs once in the last 10 innings.
Allen is priced at 1.91 with bet365 in the head-to-head market.
Mitchell to be Canterbury’s Main Man
Daryl Mitchell has been able to star with both bat and ball this tournament and that all-round contribution will be vital if an upset is on the cards.
It could be worth siding with him in the top Canterbury batsman market when looking for value. His 88 in the last match and other recent knocks of 69 and 71 prove he could be a decent bet.
Batting at number three, he is perfectly placed should the Kings lose early wickets, which they have done in their last two outings.
Mitchell is priced at 5.0 with 22Bet to be his side’s top run-scorer.
Back Bennett to Star for the Firebirds
Hamish Bennett has regularly been among the wickets this Super Smash.
Backing him to be Wellington’s top wicket-taker in the final looks a good bet, especially considering his recent form at this venue.
He has six wickets in his last five matches at Basin Reserve and comes here on the back of another two against the Aces in Auckland.
The 33-year-old is priced at 4.33 with bet365 to be the best bowler for the Firebirds.
