Sussex Sharks v Lancashire Lightning – Match Preview

This quarter final crosses groups, so the Sharks and Lightning haven’t played each other in the 2020 Vitality Blast yet.

The Sharks and Lightning have won the tournament once each. Lancashire have the more recent title, achieved in 2015. Sussex won it in 2009.

Where: County Ground, Hove

When: Thursday, 1 October 2020

Start time: 17:30 IST (12:00 GMT)

Pitch conditions: There was a balance of victories by the team batting first and second during the group stage of the 2020 Blast in Hove – two each and one washout. It’s a high-scoring ground, with totals of 190-plus achieved twice by the team batting first this season.

Weather conditions: Much like the rest of England, rain is predicted for Hove on match day. Hopefully, we will get in a full fixture regardless. If it is shortened, this could suit the team batting second in chasing an adjusted target.

Sussex Sharks v Lancashire Lightning – Team News

Sussex have a trio of in-form batsmen in David Wiese, Luke Wright and Phil Salt available. They’ll be glad to have Salt back, after his stint with the England limited-overs squad.

Bowling-wise, they can turn to the wily and experienced Danny Briggs – the most prolific T20 spinner in the history of this competition. And then there’s pace ace Tymal Mills with his excellent slower variations.

The Sharks will have to do without Chris Jordan, though. He’s at the Indian Premier League.

If Keaton Jennings isn’t back in the XI, plenty more onus will fall on Alex Davies, Steven Croft and others for the bulk of Lancashire’s runs.

They’ve got Tom Bailey and Matthew Parkinson to lead the bowling resources. Parkinson’s leg-spin will really need to be spot on, as Sussex look to target the slower bowlers.

Sussex Sharks v Lancashire Lightning – Betting Tips and Prediction

Here are more expert cricket tips to help you with your predictions for this match. Our team have years of experienced and have based these tips on the best odds available.

Try Get it Right With Wright as Sussex’s Top Batsman

Having played for England and enjoyed stints in the BBL, IPL and other domestic T20 leagues, Luke Wright is nearing the end of his career. But he’s still churning out plenty of runs.

He been in fine form at the top of the Sussex order, setting great foundations for the middle men to capitalise on. Wright is a good bet at 3.4 with bet365 to be the top batsman for the Sharks.

Bet on Bailey to Be the Top Bowler for the Lightning

Tom Bailey hasn’t taken any wickets in his last couple of T20 Blast matches, but has been very economical. The five-for he took against fellow quarter-finalists Leicestershire earlier in the tournament is particularly memorable.

Bailey has plenty of experience and the right-arm seamer knows the importance of varying lengths, lines and pace in these conditions. He’s priced at 4.0 with 1xBet to be the top bowler for Lancashire.

Pick Sussex to Hit More Sixes than Lancashire

Sussex have a wealth of big-hitters and look a really good pick to hit more sixes than Lancashire in this match at 1.95 with 10CRIC.

From Wright to Wiese to Salt and Ravi Bopara, their entire batting order is lined with men able to clear the boundary time and time again.
