Sri Lanka were unable to continue the dominance they gathered in the preceding ODI series, as the West Indies won the first T20I earlier this week.
In a T20 World Cup year, the men from the Caribbean showed just why they are the tournament’s two-time champions – and will look to complete a series win on Friday.
We have some free cricket betting tips, all the latest news and more, as Kieron Pollard and Lasith Malinga’s men go again in Pallekele.
Sri Lanka vs West Indies 2nd T20I – Match Preview
Where: Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Kandy
When: Friday, 6 March 2020
Start Time: 19:00 (IST), 13:30 (GMT)
Pitch conditions: This venue is a favourite for teams who bat first, as historically the side chasing a total have come up short here. This showed in the series opener, too. Sri Lanka have won just two of their last five T20Is at this venue.
Weather conditions: There is an 80 percent chance of rain in Pallekele on Friday, but it’s seasonal and might just blow through. Typically hot and humid conditions are expected otherwise, with a high of 33 degrees Celsius.
Sri Lanka vs West Indies 2nd T20I – Latest Odds
Sri Lanka and the West Indies are priced at 2.10 and 1.72, respectively, in the latest odds to win this second T20I. The Windies are odds-on favourites here after their win in the series opener, even if the conditions are more foreign to them than the hosts. Take a look at their Player of the Match and player performance markets as well.
Sri Lanka vs West Indies 2nd T20I – Team News
Sri Lanka certainly need more from Shehan Jayasuriya and Kusal Mendis, who each collected a duck in the series opener. This made for a poor performance from the middle-order, which also requires better from Dasun Shanaka and Angelo Mathews. There probably isn’t enough cause for alarm for Sri Lanka to make several changes, but they might consider getting Niroshan Dickwella back into the XI.
The West Indies won’t likely make any changes. Oshane Thomas spearheaded the bowling, while Lendl Simmons led the batting in the first T20I. Theirs were not standalone acts, though, with plenty of players in support. The all-seam attacked worked once, so perhaps they will try it again, unless Hayden Walsh Jr. or Fabien Allen are brought in.

Sri Lanka vs West Indies 2nd T20I – Betting Tips and Prediction
Thomas and Simmons showcased the West Indies’ ability with ball and bat, respectively, in Pallekele earlier this week. Will they do it again or perhaps there are other options to look at in the best cricket betting tips for this second match? The cricket prediction stakes will certainly be higher, for a shorter period of time, if rain comes into play.
Wanindu Hasaranga top of the pops
Sri Lanka have a real gem in leg-spinning all-rounder Hasaranga. He showed in the first match, with the bat especially, what a valuable asset he is to the team. Opposition batters often chase leg-spinners, but his wile and guile is frequently good enough to outdo them. You can bet on Hasaranga via bet365 to be Sri Lanka’s top bowler, top batsman or Player of the Match at 4.50, 26.00 and 17.00, receptively. Those are quite long odds in the batting category, but well worth it if he comes to the crease after another collective failure from the middle-order.
Oshane all over again
The big, bulky Thomas was bullish on a belter of a track in the first T20I. He needed just three overs to complete his five-for. The West Indies may well go into the second fixture with an all-seam attack again. There will be plenty of competition for Thomas to be their top bowler again. He is priced at 4.00 for a repeat showing, but you can also get Sheldon Cottrell and Kesrick Williams at 4.33 and 4.50, respectively. Williams didn’t play in the first game, but might crack the nod amid rotation of the seamers here.
Best Bet: Wanindu Hasaranga to be top bowler for Sri Lanka at 4.50 with bet365
