England v Australia 2nd T20I – Match Preview

Australia have taken a strong squad with them to England and this second match in the space of three days could now prove decisive in the fight for series success.

England also have plenty of options as they look to show their strength in this format, especially on home soil.

Where: Ageas Bowl, Southampton, England

When: Sunday 6, September

Start Time: 17:45 (IST), 13:15 (GMT)

Pitch conditions: More movement is expected off the surface at Southampton and spin could come into play after yet more action here this summer. The pitch at Southampton was on the slow side in the first contest and taking pace off looks the key again for this fixture.

Weather conditions: The weather is set to be dry with some bright spells. There will be cloud cover overhead and temperatures will hover just under 20 degrees.

England v Australia 2nd T20I – Team News

England are without Jason Roy due to a side strain but recalled Jos Buttler for this series. Dawid Malan was also retained to hand England even more selection decisions.

They also welcomed back Jofra Archer and Mark Wood after the duo missed the Pakistan T20I series.

There is no place for Lewis Gregory or Pat Brown but Sam Curran is back to join his brother Tom in the squad.

England maybe also be keen to have another look at Sam Billings against this opposition at some stage, especially as they are still without Ben Stokes due to personal reasons.

It’s unlikely England will make too many changes for this unless they decide to drop a pace bowler to better suit conditions.

Australia named a 21-man squad for the trip, including Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, David Warner and Marcus Stoinis. Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins also make up a strong outfit.

Labuschagne and Josh Philippe are waiting in the wings and could get an opportunity should the tourists elect to bolster their batting.

England v Australia 2nd T20I – Betting Tips and Prediction

Australia would have been hurt by the way they surrendered such a strong position in the first T20I. They will also be better for finally having some competitive action under their belts.

They clearly offer the value bet in the outright winner market and would be the selection for that reason.

However, England were below their best in the first clash but still found a way to win. With a series success against their old rivals in their sights, they could come out firing from the off.

Finch to be Australia’s Top Batsman

Skipper Aaron Finch looked in solid form in the first contest, especially alongside David Warner as the duo fired their team to a great start.

With Warner being the favourite in this market, it could be worth taking him on with Finch.

His odds of 3.74 with 22Bet looks a good price and has to be worth backing.

Morgan the Value for England

All eyes will rightly be on Jos Buttler once again when England come out to bat in this format. He was in scintillating form in the first fixture before falling for a 29-ball 44.

However, given opening partner Bairstow’s patchy form, if Buttler was to fall early then England could be looking to Eoin Morgan to get the job done.

He is playing some of the best cricket of his career at the moment despite falling cheaply at this venue on Friday. That does mean his price to be England’s top scorer certainly looks value at 6.0 with bet365.

Buttler to Beat Bairstow to 10

We like the look of this bet from 22Bet. Backing Jos Buttler to get to 10 runs before Jonny Bairstow looks a great play at 2.0.

Bairstow has struggled to get going recently, while Buttler showed just what he can do in the first five overs in the first fixture. Buttler doesn’t hang around and will likely be on strike from the off.
