Scorchers Welcome Livingstone Return for BBL

England batsman back with Perth

Australia Cricket Fans

England batsman Liam Livingstone will play for the Perth Scorchers during the 2020-21 Big Bash League in Australia.

Livingstone was with the franchise for the 2019-20 BBL. He was the team's leading run-scorer that season, striking 425 in 14 innings.

“I loved my time with Perth last season, I can't wait to get back out there and get that orange playing shirt back on,” said Livingstone.

“I enjoyed opening the batting last year and formed a great partnership with Josh Inglis, hopefully we can pick up where we left off and continue to entertain the Perth supporters.

“The Scorchers have a rich history in the BBL, hopefully we can start the season strong and add another Big Bash title to the collection.”

The 27-year-old Livingstone has been capped twice at T20I level. He has also represented the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League.

The hard-hitting right-hander was a key member of the Lancashire Lightning's T20 Blast campaign recently.

“It's terrific that Liam has agreed to join us again for BBL 10, he made a great impression last season finishing as one of the competition’s leading run-scorers,” added Scorchers head coach Adam Voges.

“He fitted in very well with our group and along with his handy leg-spin and energetic fielding, he brings a wealth of talent to the team.”

Hales Back at Thunder

Earlier this month, the Sydney Thunder confirmed the return of England batsman Alex Hales. He was the Thunder's leading run-scorer during the 2019-20 BBL.

“There's a whole range of reasons to be excited about Alex extending his contract – and they're exactly why we signed him in the first place. He is a great player who is available for the entire tournament,” said Thunder coach Shane Bond.

“He played brilliantly for us last year, but he was brilliant on-and-off the field. He was hugely popular with the players and support staff – and that's how Alex is viewed wherever he plays.

“We have some very talented players in our squad, and it is important to have those professionals, like Alex, around so they can learn off them as well. Everyone in the team is looking forward to having him back, he's a brilliant bloke.”

This year's BBL is scheduled to start in early December. The Sydney Sixers are the current champions.
