Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi will play for the Melbourne Renegades in the 2020-21 Big Bash League in Australia.

This will be Nabi's fourth BBL with the Renegades.

He currently occupies first position in the International Cricket Council's rankings for T20I all-rounders and is involved in the Sunrisers Hyderabad‘s ongoing Indian Premier League 2020 campaign. Nabi also represented the St Lucia Zouks in the 2020 Caribbean Premier League.

“I have always enjoyed my time with the Renegades and testing myself against some of the best T20 players in the world in the Big Bash. I'm very pleased to have re-signed for a fourth season,” said Nabi.

The Renegades have lost all-rounder Dan Christian to the Sydney Sixers and duo Tom Cooper and Jack Wildermuth to the Brisbane Heat. They have gained fast bowler James Pattinson from the Heat, though.

Pattinson is currently playing for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. He was a late addition to the Mumbai squad as a replacement for Sri Lanka pace ace Lasith Malinga.

The Renegades are captained by batsman Aaron Finch, who is part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad for the 2020 IPL.

What the Renegades Said

Nabi's versatility makes him a very valuable member of our team. He can bat and bowl in a number of different situations and he reads the game so well,” added Renegades coach Michael Klinger.

“We'll again be looking for Nabi to play a key role in our middle order and he'll be called upon to bowl some important overs.”

Nabi is the first overseas player not from England to be confirmed for the BBL 2020-21. England stars Dawid Malan, and Liam Livingstone will play for the Hobart Hurricanes and Perth Scorchers, respectively.

Fellow Englishmen Tom Banton, Alex Hales and Tom Curran will represent the Heat, Sydney Thunder and Sixers, respectively.

The Sixers are the reigning champions. They beat the Melbourne Stars in the 2020 final. This will be the 10th edition of the BBL.
