Chand played for India Under-19 and India A many years ago. He was also with the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League.
He captained the Silicon Valley Strikers in the first ever Minor League Cricket Championship in the United States of America earlier this year. Now, he has the opportunity to impress with the Renegades in the BBL.
The Renegades have gone relatively low key with their overseas signings, with Chand partnered by Afghanistan spinners Mohammad Nabi and Zahir Khan and England seamer Reece Topley.
Among the local batsman, Chand will be batting alongside Sam Harper, Jake Fraser-McGurk, MacKenzie Harvey, Will Sutherland and Jonathan Merlo. Australian internationals Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh are also there.
Betway have priced Chand at 4.75 to be the top Melbourne Renegades batsman for the 2021-22 Big Bash. These are longer odds than the 3.5 and 3.8 for Harper and Finch, respectively.
Chand is shorter odds than Nic Maddinson and Harvey in the same market. Maddinson is priced at 6.5 and Harvey 8.0 by the same BBL betting site.
With more than 1500 in 70-plus T20 professional appearances and that recent Minor League Cricket Championship experience, Chand is a very good pick for top Melbourne Renegades batsman this season.
It's worth noting Maddison and Marcus Harris' time with the Renegades will be limited. Maddinson is involved with Australia A. Harris will be playing in the Ashes series. This makes Chand an even stronger option.

BBL Betting Tips – Outright Winner Odds
The arrival of Chand should boost the Melbourne Renegades' chance of winning the 2021-22 BBL. They won the title in 2018-19, but came stone last in 2019-20 and 2020-21.
10CRIC have the Renegades offered at 13.0 to win the final this season. The Adelaide Strikers are also at long odds of 12.0 to do the same.
The Sydney Sixers are the favourites. They are chasing a third successive Big Bash League title and fourth overall. The Perth Scorchers are also pursuing a fourth BBL title.
