South Africa vs England 3rd ODI Preview – Betting Tips, Latest Odds, Team News and Predictions – 9/2/2020
South Africa‘s win in the first ODI at Newlands and the washout in the second in Durban means South Africa can’t lose this series.
England, at least, can draw the series. The reigning World Cup champions were poor in Cape Town, but there were better signs at Kingsmead before the rain ended proceedings.
This final ODI will afford both teams a final look at each other before they start a T20I series. South Africa and England last contested an ODI in Johannesburg in 2016, when the hosts won despite a century from Joe Root. South Africa have one player from that match involved in this series – Quinton de Kock.

South Africa vs England 3rd ODI – Latest Odds
South Africa and England are priced at 2.37 and 1.57, respectively, by bet365 to win the third ODI. They have some reasonable batting markets and attractive bowling markets, too.
South Africa vs England 3rd ODI – Team News
South Africa opted for an additional spinner in Bjorn Fortuin at Kingsmead, but will likely return to Lungi Ngidi at the Wanderers, where extra pace is largely required.
The Wanderers is Reeza Hendricks’ home ground. He missed out at Newlands and looked promising at Kingsmead. With Janneman Malan waiting in the wings to open the batting alongside Quinton de Kock, Hendricks needs a big knock to silence doubters.
England named an unchanged XI at Kingsmead despite losing at Newlands. They retained leg-spinner Matt Parkinson and all-rounder Chris Jordan – both were average in Cape Town.
Sam Curran might be deemed surplus to requirement at the Wanderers. He hasn’t taken a wicket this series. Although his left-arm variation is nice to have, so is extra pace – and Saqib Mahmood can bring just that.
South Africa vs England 3rd ODI – Betting Tips and Prediction
There should be a few intriguing head-to-head battles in this decider, which will bring South Africa a series win or see England square things one-all.
Reeza Hendricks to be South Africa’s top batsman
Hendricks was snubbed for the Proteas World Cup squad last year. In a squad lined with inexperienced batsman, the onus is on him at the top of the order, which will also take some pressure off new ODI captain Quinton de Kock. Hendricks is offered at 5.00 by bet365 to be South Africa’s top batsman.
Chris Woakes to be England’s top bowler
Woakes’ role is important in the absence of the rested Ben Stokes. England’s bowling was a bit patchy at Newlands and again wasn’t convincing at Kingsmead. Woakes is priced at 4.50 to be England’s top bowler at the Wanderers, where his probing lines and lengths will be required to get on top of a South African order keen to hammer home the series win.
Best Bet: Reeza Hendricks to be South Africa’s top batsman at 5.00 with bet365
