New Zealand vs India 5th T20I Preview – Betting Tips, Latest Odds, Team News and Predictions – 02/02/2020
India and New Zealand head to Tauranga for the fifth and final T20I of the series.
The visitors have already wrapped up the overall victory but are now looking for a whitewash following another super over success in Wellington on Friday.
They will also be keen to take more momentum into the ODI and Test series that follow this. Three more ODIs and two Test matches are scheduled.
New Zealand haven’t been far off at times this series but have let winning positions slip far too often. Once more, the home side couldn’t make it over the finishing line in Wellington and ended up losing a one-over eliminator for the second successive match.
Kane Williamson’s men will be keen to end a frustrating spell on a high note at the Bay Oval.

New Zealand vs India 5th T20I – Latest Odds
After more super over disappointment last time out, it’s no surprise to see India again considered favourites to win in Tauranga.
They are priced at 1.62 (8/13) with bet365 to complete the clean sweep on Sunday.
New Zealand can be backed at 2.30 (13/10) to finally get the job done.
New Zealand vs India 5th T20I – Team News
The Black Caps no longer have the services of Colin de Grandhomme and are already doing without the injured Trent Boult and Lockie Ferguson this series.
However, New Zealand have drafted in Tom Bruce now, but he will be keen to improve on his duck in Wellington.
Tim Siefert was a highlight for the hosts after being pushed up the order and it’s likely he’ll retain that number three position here.
That could also come down to if skipper Kane Williamson returns from a shoulder injury for this one.
India chose to rotate their squad for the 4th clash and could again look to see how the likes of Navdeep Saini and Washington Sundar continue to develop on the international stage.
They also gave a chance to Sanju Samson at the top of the order in the last game after resting Rohit Sharma. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and fast bowler Mohammed Shami were also given time off. It is likely India will continue to rotate as they build towards the T20 World Cup later this year.
New Zealand vs India 5th T20I – Betting Tips and Prediction
New Zealand could and probably should have won the last two matches between these sides.
The hosts have thrown away winning positions in successive fixtures before suffering more super over pain.
With that in mind, and with the series all but done and dusted, New Zealand look the value bet at the prices on offer for the outright win.
There is also value to be had in the top batman and bowler markets for this one, with clues aplenty from the previous four games.
Munrow to be New Zealand’s main man with the bat
Colin Munrow has looked in good form in the recent clashes and looks a good bet to be New Zealand’s top run-scorer.
The opener has been able to get decent starts this series without being able to go on. That was evident when he fell for 26 in the second T20 in Auckland.
However, his 64 from 47 balls in Wellington bodes well for the batsman. Given the injury to Kane Williamson, his price of 4.33 (10/3) with bet365 looks a little too big.
KL Rahul still too big with the bookies
Why KL Rahul remains the price he does is still a surprise.
The in-form batman has been brilliant at the top of the order for India in this series and knocked 39 in 26 balls in Wellington. He then bludgeoned 10 in the super over to see his side to victory.
He is available at 4.00 (3/1) with bet365 to top score for India in the fifth and final T20I and it’s a tempting price considering how he’s been playing in recent weeks.
Best Bet: KL Rahul to be India’s top run-scorer at 4.00 (3/1) with bet365.
