Adelaide Strikers vs Sydney Thunder – Latest Odds
Bet365 have the Strikers and Thunder priced at 1.61 and 2.30, respectively, to win this match. They shared a no-result in their first match of the tournament, before the Thunder won the second. Both those matches happened late last year, so it has been over a month since they last met.
Adelaide Strikers vs Sydney Thunder – Team News
The Strikers haven’t played a match since 26 January – and haven’t won one since two days before that. They might be considered a bit rusty, but on the other hand the Thunder might appear a bit overworked. Having won on Thursday, though, the Sydney franchise have momentum on their side for this match.
Batsman Jonathan Wells has stepped up superbly for the Strikers recently – and is their leading run-scorer this season. He’ll face one of his staunchest challenges yet against a Thunder seam attack spearheaded by Chris Morris and Daniel Sams.
Elsewhere in the order, the Strikers will be relying on Alex Carey, Jake Weatherald, Phil Salt and Travis Head for runs. Rashid Khan can also weigh in with the willow, but his role with the ball will be far more important. The leg-spinner’s bowling partnership – whether they bowl at the same time or not – will be key.
The Thunder will have no genuine reason to tinker with the XI that overcame the Hurricanes in the Eliminator. Usman Khawaja and Alex Hales were outstanding at the top of the order before Callum Ferguson and Alex Ross capped a hefty total.
Leg-spinner Jonathan Cook was then the unexpected hero with the ball, taking four key wickets. He outshone bigger names like Morris and Sams and is now one of three Thunder bowlers to take 10 or more wickets this season. The other two are predictably Sams and Morris.
Adelaide Strikers vs Sydney Thunder – Betting Tips
This should be a hot contest, with some equally attractive cricket betting markets to match.
Keep on with Carey
We’re really liking Carey to be the Strikers’ top batsman at 4.50 with Bet365. He has a knack for stepping up in important matches. That big match temperament of his has been seen before and is expected again. For some longer odds, backing Cameron White to beat Carey in the top batsman category at 9.00 is a promising pick.
Have a go with Hales
Hales continues to prove a point to the England selectors, who don’t want him in the ODI or T20I squad for now. He was outstanding against the Hurricanes, with his choice shot selection and flashy stroke play really taking the attack to the opposition. He’ll go again against the Strikers, who will have the level heads of Peter Siddle and company to combat this – or at least attempt to. Bet365 have Hales at 3.50 to be the top batsman for the Thunder.
Adelaide Strikers vs Sydney Thunder – Prediction
There is nothing consistent in their recent record to suggest who will win this one. But the Thunder have had recent game time, while the Strikers have been on a break. Adelaide have home advantage, Sydney don’t. We’re in for an intriguing decider here.
Best Bet: Alex Carey to be top batsman for Adelaide Strikers at 4.50 with Bet365
